causes we believe in

Jesus said he had come "to preach the good news to the poor, to proclaim freedom for the prisoners,... to release the oppressed" (Luke 4:14-21).

We are learning that proclaiming the gospel means much more than speaking words in hopes that people will hear and respond to the good news of salvation by faith in Christ -- that's certainly part of it -- but that it must include tangible compassion for the sick, poor and disadvantaged, and efforts to right wrongs in the name of justice.

Love, when demonstrated to the world through acts of kindness, compassion and justice, is revolutionary;  and when we become agents of it, we make credible the message of a Savior who transforms men, women and children for eternity!

These are some of the causes we believe in.

  • RELAY FOR LIFE

For the past several years, FCF has been actively involved in the Hancock County Relay for Life. Over the last 12 years, our “Faith For A Cure” team has raised over $80,000! Adults and teens from FCF serve on the steering committee, organize fundraisers, sell luminaria, provide entertainment the night of Relay, and much more. In addition, FCF is pleased to host the monthly committee meetings.  Learn more about our local event by clicking here.

  • MISSION: GUATEMALA (kairos ministries)

In January 2014, we sent our first team on a medical mission to the mountain villages near Chiquimula, Guatemala.  We returned in November 2016 & 2018. Over three trips, 36 members of Faith Community have participated in this mission.

  • LOAVES & FISHES

Faith Community is pleased to partner with our local food pantry. Each July, we provide volunteers to pick up food donations and staff the food pantry. 119 Bucksport Road, Ellsworth; 667-4363

  • AFRICAN CHILDREN'S CHOIR

We have enjoyed a long relationship with the African Children's Choir.  Since 2001, we have hosted the Choir in Ellsworth five times... twice in our own building, and having outgrown our own space, three times at The Grand.  We are always thrilled to have these children and their chaperones in our homes, and it's an incredible honor to be able to bless our community with their concerts.
